MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is inviting public comment on a revised decision to expand the city of Fitchburg's urban sewer service area.

The revised decision reflects information and input provided to DNR subsequent to a decision by the department on April 14, 2015 to amend the Dane County Areawide Water Quality Management Plan in response to an application by the city of Fitchburg for the Northeast Neighborhood urban service area. Following that decision, additional information and clarifications provided by the city of Fitchburg and a landowner within the proposed urban service area amendment area have allowed DNR to approve, with conditions, additional areas as part of the plan.

As part of the process, the landowner has agreed to: collect data to support and inform the design of storm water features; provide the public with specific information about storm water quantity and quality associated with pre- and post-development conditions; and expand the wetland buffer zone beyond the dimensions submitted in the original application.

DNR's revised decision increases from 375 to 454 the number of acres that will be added to the city of Fitchburg's urban service area, with developable and non-developable acreage included in the total. The land is south of Highway 18/151 (south of East Clayton Road), east of Highway 14, west of Larson Road and north of Goodland Park Road.

For more information on the revised decision, visit DNR.wi.gov and search "Fitchburg Northeast Neighborhood."

DNR is now seeking public comment on the revised decision. Comments should be submitted by close of business on Monday, March 14 to Johanna Lathrop via email at [email protected], or by mail to:
