How are the deer near you doing?

  1. Just wondered how the deer around you are doing this winter...any fawn losses? I've seen a couple of dead fawns that I believe died from starvation and cold...I didn't open up the marrow, but they sure were little and skinny.
  2. The deer out where I hunt appear to be doing ok.I go out every week or so and cut abunch of trees down in a wildlife clearing I'm making so they have tops to feed on.
Took a trip over to the Ackley area Tuesday. I didn't see any deer tracks on the trail I walked. I did see two areas that appeared to have logging going on.I assume the deer were back in those areas.

  3. good deal...

Anywhere there's cutting of any sort going on, they should be fine. I've been doing a lot of wild apple and crabapple pruning lately, if nothing else, should help produce fruit this summer.

Surprizingly they seem to be holding their own.
