I've got plenty of ironwood on my land, heard that it's considered a decent wood to make traditional bows. Just curious what folks consider desireable when selecting a piece of wood to work with. I'm assuming straight with no knots, but small diameter with lots of close rings, medium dia like 8-12", or bigger is better, 15+"? I'm just gonna turn 'em into firewood at some point but could save a few pieces if I knew what was useful.
