Pea's

Discussion in 'Whitetail Deer Habitat' started by brokenarrow, Jun 8, 2009.

  1. I am planning to put in a salad bar in the top 1/3 of one of my plots. This is only a temporary thing and I plan to till it in in late july for the fall seeding. The idea is to get some good nutrition to the deer during milking. I want have winter rye, beans,WW,but I really want pea's. My local feed store does not carry em. Any suggestions before I do a search. If you all have ever bought em, where? I want them cause I know for a fact the deer by me will not let them grow, they hammer em. I watched my neighbors garden grow to about 3 inches and then they were gone. I figure the peas will draw em in and then they will eat the rest (hopefully/?)
Where would you look for them? Thanks

  2. Where are you located?

  3. 8 miles sought of Ladysmith but I am driving thru the Madison area on Monday to get there.

  4. If you can't find peas you could use RR soybeans. They should be readily available and will give you the oppurtunity to spray for weed control as they grow and still carry out your planting plan this fall.

  5. Sorry for the late reply but Short Lane Ag supply in Colby has peas.
