Public can comment on plan for new Rock River access site

    WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The Department of Natural Resources is requesting public comment on the proposed development of a new public access site along the Rock River, just south of Watertown.

    The 6 acre property, located at N8625 Jefferson Rd., will offer a motorized and non-motorized boat access ramp, ADA accessible floating boat launch pier, parking area for 20 vehicles, picnic tables, roofed open shelter building, primitive campsites and other amenities when fully developed.

    Called the Rock River Public Access - Watertown Landing, the property is located in the Glacial Heritage Area (GHA) project area. The GHA is a network of public lands connected to nearby cities and villages by trails and waterways. It is managed cooperatively by Jefferson County and Wisconsin DNR.

    Interested parties can view the public access Implementation Plan by visiting the GHA website Comments will be accepted for 30 days, through April 15.
