Starter help for night fishing

  1. Alright so recently I've tried night fishing and found that I have a few problems I am hoping someone can help out with.

First off I have no clue where to go, I fish around the Peshtigo area normally but the river was drained recently and so I haven't had much luck catching anything but small fish. I don't want to have to drive half way across the state either so if anyone knows of an area where I can fish at night that would be very helpful.

Second, aside from bluegills, I have no clue where to start to catch bigger fish. That's pretty much been my experience with fishing since I was little and would like to go up to something more challenging or exciting? I've read a few intro to fishing guides but I haven't found many of them useful and I've read that Wisconsin has a very large range of fish but all I ever catch are pan fish.

Also I don't own a boat or have the intent to own one so please keep that in mind and let me know just how much that limits my fishing spectrum.

So if anyone has some suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
