Trail seeding

  1. After finishing the grade on my food plot, I had a couple new trails put in. I broadcast a loggers seed mix and added an extra 5lbs of clover. The only spot I have any growth at all is where the canopy is thin. This tells me not enough sun hits the ground to germinate. Have any of you had success frost seeding trails. Since there will be no leaves early on, will there be success in germination earlier in the year?

You might have some luck getting it to germinate before the trees leave out. Then if you get some dry months the shade might do the plot some good.

  3. My food plot is awesome. It is growing great and get plenty of sun light since its at the top of a nob (actually the highest point for many miles). Its my trails that are not getting the light to grow. Sorry for not making that clear:)
