CRIVITZ, Wis. - The public has an opportunity to review and comment on a proposed variance to the master plan for Governor Thompson State Park to allow the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to clearly categorize and delineate the designated vegetative management zones within the park.

"The existing property master plan does not clearly identify boundaries for managing vegetation within the park, making it ambiguous and difficult for staff to carry out forest and other natural resource management activities," said Maggie Kailhofer, superintendent of the park.

The proposed plan changes will clearly mark forest management zone boundaries to ensure the intent of the 2004 property master plan is followed. This proposed plan change is consistent with the property's goals and objectives and does not change the current vegetative management plan.

The Governor Thompson State Park vegetative management master plan variance [PDF] is available for review by searching the DNR website, for "Governor Thompson," and clicking on the tab for "maps and publications."

Written comments regarding to clearly identify the vegetative management zones can be sent to Governor Thompson State Park, N10008 Paust Lane, Crivitz, WI 54114 or via email to [email protected] no later than Feb. 15, 2016.
