The work is being done is a partnership with the DNR, La Crosse County, West Salem Rod and Gun Club, Lake Neshonoc Rehabilitation District and the West Salem Lion's Club.

In addition to the pond, the Veteran's Memorial Park includes several shelters, play areas, walking trails, a La Crosse River canoe access and a 200-plus unit campground. The La Crosse River State Trail passes through the park along with another bike path connecting the park to the Village of West Salem.
